Pet's Story
As my first dachshund was getting older, I started looking for another dog to adopt. The picture I saw of "Champ" captured my attention because of his eyes. He had the most direct stare and intelligence in those eyes. We had a rough start as he bit me badly twice in the first 2 weeks. As I came to know him, I realized he was biting in fear. I worked with him, and with time he's much better, although walks can still be challenging. He's a love bug in the house where he feels safe, and would probably allow a burglar full access! He kept growing and didn't look much like a dachshund so we had him tested, and he's actually a chiweenie with some poodle for good measure. He got his name because he can leap like Rudolph, the red-nosed reindeer. He leaps onto the sofa from 6 feet away, and has been known to leap high enough to grab the loaf of bread off the kitchen counter. He's my special furbaby.
