Dachshund Adoption Rescue and Education, Inc. (DARE) views its mission as increasing public awareness against animal cruelty and overpopulation while rescuing and re-homing displaced and unwanted dachshunds and dachshund mix dogs primarily throughout the North Central region of the state of Florida, in the Continental Unites States
We do this by:
1. Rescuing and socializing abandoned, neglected, abused, orphaned and/or surrendered dachshunds and dachshund mixes by providing temporary safe shelter and medical/dental treatments as needed.
2. Procuring temporary foster homes and permanent new homes for rescued dachshunds that will provide a safe and nurturing home environment.
3. Ensuring no dachshund shall be adopted for the purposes of breeding or scientific/medical experimentation.
4. Providing education to the public on the dachshund breed, puppy mills, and responsible pet guardianship including, but not limited to, humane animal care and spay/neuter practices.
5. Displaying courtesy, respect and fellowship toward all volunteers in appreciation of services and support rendered to dachshund rescue and to promoting enhanced teamwork among all rescuers.

Pet's Story
A year and a half ago Kevin was given to me with a collar around his neck that read "Will you marry me?" Not only was I asked one of the most monumental questions in my life but I was officially a proud mama to my dream miniature dapple dachshund puppy...truly a picture perfect moment. Since then Kevin has brought nothing but joy into our house with his corky, rambunctious, and all around awesome personality. He enjoys long walks, warm snuggles, chewing bones, decapitating new plush toys, car rides, having play dates, ice cream, and acting like a cat. He is definitely not shy when it comes to telling you whats on his mind. His typical day starts the second the first alarm buzzes with howls, whines, and plenty of licks on our faces until we are up and at 'em. Following that he dives back into "his" giant warm queen size bed and buries himself deep into the layers of blankets... falling fast asleep until mom or dad drags him out of bed. Kevin brings laughter and smiles to our faces at a time in the day we didn't even think was possible.
