Animal must be FROM Puerto Rico
Animal does not have to be IN Puerto Rico in the photo you submit
Animal does not have to be YOUR personal animal, you can enter a Defensa rescued animal photo - use our photos! That is totally okay with us!!!
"Rescue" = Giving an animal in need of a home a home!!!
Any type animal is allowed – horse, dog, cat, pig for example – as long as they are originally from Puerto Rico
Your entry can be a photo of more than one animal and/or with a human - but 1st place will have to pick just 1 of the animals in the photo for their portrait and it is the artists discretion if she will paint the exact photo entered or request a face shot of your animal only - making the end portrait similar to the last 3 year winners below.
The portrait made for you and the cover of the El Coqui magazine may actually be just a face or body shot similar to other art Marueen does found here on our Defensa Facebook Album .
If you'd like to ask about your photo(s) before you enter it - email it to defensarincon@gmail.com and we will ask Maureen if she would create it as a portrait or what specifically could be turned into a portrait.
