Mel's diabetes prompted his first humans to abandon him. He lived in a post office, looked after by a foster mom who worked there. Everyone loved and doted on him there, but he needed a more stable environment and schedule for his insulin treatment. I adopted Mel in the summer of 2009, and he went into remission in early 2010. Just recently his diabetes returned, but he's a happy, mellow, loving boy regardless. He's truly a ray of sunshine in my life.
