Texas has a heart the size of Texas. This little girl turned up in our backyard hanging out with my big feral male Midnight who was part of a small colony we fed. He was in awe of her and would stand down while she ate waiting to see if she would leave him any crumbs. She was boss from the get go and made it clear she was home! So, got a trap, caught her and took her to the vet. She was maybe 7 months old and full of spunk but also very ill and malnourished. She ate, drank and well you know what else constantly! She was wild and my quiet sweet senior kitty Fang Shui was not pleased. This happened while preparing a big move. My former vet told me that Tex was likely diabetic so when I got to my new home I researched high and low and found DCC and DCIN to which I am so grateful.From there I learned how to care for her and immediately switched from dry food forever to wet high protein food. Within 2-1/2 months of blood glucose testing and measured insulin dosing and lots of love and support from these 2 groups of amazing people; Texas blood sugar stabilized! She gained weight and amazed all who know her including my wonderful vet who supported this approach.This was in 2011 and today she loves to take long walks on her harness and explore her Queen-Dom. She is a loving and sweet kitty and sits here now as I write this. I hope she approves!
