This is Maggie, who was just diagnosed in August 2016. This picture is a few years old, but I just love how happy she looks basking in the sunlight!

In 2009, I had just moved out of my parents' house and was eager to adopt a cat after growing up with an allergic father. When I arrived at Petsmart, the foster caregiver was visiting the cats to give them their dinner and let them stretch their legs. The other cats didn't give me a second glance, but Maggie walked right up to me and headbutted my hand. She definitely chose me! We have been together ever since, and though our family is much bigger now -- a husband, 3 other cats, and a toddler -- Maggie and I are still very close. While scary at first, I think her diagnosis has actually brought us closer. I get to spend a lot of 1:1 time with her now which I haven't quite been able to do since the baby was born. I'm sure Maggie wishes there weren't so many needles involved, though!

Maggie is the sweetest cat I've ever met. I often joke now that she is so sweet, she needs medicine for it :)
