Merlyn is the cat that started it all... he first stole my heart online in 2003. After begging many people, a wonderful friend rented a car to drive 2 hours to adopt him. At almost 13, he would have been PTS. He was there for 2 months as it was, and the busy shelter said they "forgot" about him, luckily for me. He was traumatized by previous adopters so that he didn't want to be restrained, and would bite if I touched him unexpectedly. He did not want to bite, and he did learn to trust me. When the sugar dance began in 2004, that deepened the bond we already had, and was OTJ by May 2005. He was not my first but he was my heart kitty. He stole hearts on the FDMB too. Merlyn was so special in so many ways, I don't know if I can express it. He was an old soul. He would do things he had never done before, like get under the covers in bed but only a few times, and then stop. An animal communicator friend said he liked to see my, and the other cats responses to New Things. He grounded everyone and held the house together. He was not a drama cat. He slept on pillows behind my pillow, over my head..so I could reach back and have my hand on him. He battled CKD, which was stable, and then severe HCM in 06. Merlyn rallied and stayed with me until the end of April 09, when he crossed over The Bridge, at @19 years old. Merlyn will always be my heart kitty and my King. Vote for Merlyn!
