Cleo was with me for fifteen years and was diabetic for the last several of them. She thought diabetes was the best scam in the world because it meant that she could get all wet food all the time in exchange for a minor needle stick in her scruff twice a day. She was very stable as a diabetic, and her needed dosage kept dropping; if cancer hadn’t gotten her, we were going to try taking her off insulin entirely.
