A little about me...
In June 2024, eleven year old Pip Squeak was left at the Aztec Shelter in New Mexico by her owner. A staff person observed the cat drinking at least two whole bowls of water each day for three days.. Sure enough the blood panel revealed that Pip renamed Angel by the shelter was diabetic. Unlike many shelters who would have euthanized her for her medical condition, this shelter did a fantastic job of treating her by giving her insulin and checking her glucose levels. Later that summer, Pip was listed on the shelter transport list to Colorado to see if any rescues/shelters would tag her. None of them would take this senior gal into their rescue. I saw her listed and after a few days of no response for her I asked to adopt her. I got her in August 2024 and in January 2025 after testing her twice a day and administering glargine while on a canned food only diet Pip renamed Pippa went into remission and has remained in remission. Pippa is a delight and a very confident gal with her squeaky voice. She is not a fan of my other cats but has only special places. I am very grateful to the Aztec shelter for saving her and so glad I did not turn away and instead adopted er into my family.
