A little about me...
In 2019, nine year old Arthur was living a hard life on the streets of Tucson Arizona. He had tattered ears, skin tags, scars, wounds and was FIV (Feline Immunology Virus) positive. FIV is contracted through deep bite wounds from an infected cat. As long as the cat is not aggressive there is minimal if any risk of spreading the virus to another cat. Arthur was a lover and not a fighter. He also was very smart and the smartest thing he did was get into a trap where he was taken to the Pima Animal Care Center. The shelter noted that he had been without food and water for a significant amount of time.
A blood panel determined that he was also diabetic. I saw this handsome guy with his floppy ears on the DCIN face book page. I asked to adopt him and because I committed to adopt him he was transferred to Jessica Shuman's rescue Tucson CARES. I had rescue friends in Arizona and was able to arrange transport to Colorado. Arthur is such a sweet boy who is loving his indoor, well-cared for life. He is on 1 unit of lantus twice a day and almost always tests in the 100s for his blood glucose. He recently had a blood panel done which indicated that his FIV status was not causing him any complications. He does have mild hypertrophic cardiomyopathy for which he sees a cardiologist but requires no medication. He also has asthma and in on theophyline for that. I hope I have this wonderful boy for another five years and am so glad I took him into my home. When you see these cats on the DCIN face book page please do not say somebody save them. Be that somebody to help them.
