Since 1988, Doberman Rescue Unlimited, Inc. (DRU) has been a lifeline for abused, abandoned, and unwanted Dobermans. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, our mission is rooted in compassion: to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome these extraordinary dogs, and to promote responsible, humane animal care through education and advocacy.
Our shelter—set on a peaceful property in the countryside—was thoughtfully designed with the needs of Dobermans in mind. Here, every dog has access to spacious roomettes and outdoor runs, several large fenced yards to play and exercise, a fully equipped medical suite with a bathing station, and on-site laundry to keep their spaces fresh and clean. We also operate a year-round training facility that allows us to work with our dogs in all seasons, helping them grow in confidence and become ready for loving forever homes.
Over the decades, DRU has rescued thousands of Dobermans. While we primarily serve the New England and New York/New Jersey regions, our reach extends across the country—and beyond. We've welcomed dogs from as far as Egypt, Kuwait, Puerto Rico, and Mexico, each one finding refuge and a fresh start with us. Today, we have more than 40 Dobermans in our care, each waiting for their chance at a new beginning.
DRU operates entirely through the generosity of individuals like you. We receive no government or agency funding—our work is made possible solely through donations, fundraising events, and membership dues. Every gift we receive helps us provide essential veterinary care, proper nutrition, safe shelter, training, and most importantly, love.
Thank you for being part of our mission. Your support helps us continue to change lives—one Doberman at a time.
