Lizzy is strong and sturdy, having covered 12 miles in one day and leaping happily into backseats for road trips. She is playful and sensitive, mouthing toys softly to drop them at human feet, or rolling over for a belly rub just when her person needs a sweet distraction. Lizzy’s gaze is a heavy one, and her eyes communicate much to those in her life who are attuned to it: particularly walk and meal reminders. I imagine quiet moments in which she ponders the fortune that led her to this circumstance of love and security as she hopes for the same for those dogs and cats in Washington County awaiting a home of their own.
