About Suncoast Humane Society
Suncoast Humane Society, a non-profit organization, was founded in 1971. We accept all animals through managed intake and do not turn an animal away based on health, temperament, age, size, or breed while maintaining a 90% live release rate.

We serve Southwest Florida including Charlotte and Sarasota Counties, Boca Grande and beyond. Our shelter helps more than 50,000 animals and people each year. Our program and services include: adoptions, low-cost preventive health care, animal enrichment, Pet Therapy, Foster Care, Lost and Found, Dog Obedience Training, Community Pet Food Bank, Humane Education and Outreach, Shelter Angel Medical Fund, Volunteer Opportunities, Disaster Resources, Fospice, and more; all aimed to create and support a no-kill community.

Our mission is to encourage, honor and support the human-animal bond in the Suncoast Region of Florida. And our vision is to celebrate a community whose pets are safe, protected and loved. We do this through sheltering, prevention and community outreach.

Sheltering: through our bricks-and-mortar shelter, foster families, and Positive Alternatives to Shelter Surrender (PASS).

Prevention: through our low-cost spay/neuter, vaccinations and other preventive care to prevent pet overpopulation and illness.

Community Outreach: by implementing programs and services that respond to community needs including: pet therapy, pet food bank, behavior training, and creative initiatives to positively influence the human-animal bond.
