My Story
Monroe was born in September 2022 with four congenital heart defects (TGA, COA and two holes. ) We had no idea until several hours after his birth. What was the happiest day of our lives quickly turned into the scariest. He was life flighted to MUSC in Charleston and we spent the next 42 days there. He had his open heart surgery at two weeks old and then had to be on ECMO for three days until he was stable enough to come off. He is now one and a half years old and you’d have no idea he had such a rough start. He brings us joy every day with his sweet smile and big laugh. He loves cars, dancing to music and playing with his big brother. He is tough and fiery; we believe God made him that way for a reason! Our lives changed forever the day Monroe was born-we became members of a club we didn’t even know existed as heart parents, saw God in ways we’ve never experienced before, and were reminded of the amazing people He placed in our lives who supported us during that time and who continue to since. We love you Monroe!
