My Story
Hi, my name is Finley! When my mom was pregnant with me, I was diagnosed with transposition of the great arteries. Which means my pulmonary and aortic arteries were flipped, pumping my blood into the wrong areas of my heart. But I had a hole in the bottom chamber, so a tiny amount of the oxygenated blood was able to make it where it needed to go. Thanks to my wonderful cardiologist, my parents were prepared as much as they could be before I was born. When I was born, I had a whole team of doctors and nurses waiting in the room to take me to the NICU. I was a big baby girl, 9.8 lbs, which helped a lot when, just 6 days after being born, I had my open heart surgery. My surgeon and his team did a wonderful job. My parents couldn’t be more grateful. After about a month in the hospital, we were finally able to come home. I’m about to turn 3, and I like Paw Patrol and dinosaurs. But I absolutely love Godzilla and cars! I love snuggles and naps. I’m the sweetest, but I definitely have a sassy side. It still amazes my mommy and daddy that I went through so much as a baby. Looking at me now, you would never guess that I’ve had any type of heart defect, except for the scar on my chest. Emerson Rose foundation helped us while we stayed in the hospital they’re truly amazing!
