My Story
On August 30th, 2021, Clyde was brought into this world. We did not know that he would have a heart defect. He was born at Greenville Memorial with Critical Aortic Stenosis. He had his first heart surgery in Charleston at MUSC at just 3 days old. Clyde fought so many battles with coding episodes, fevers, pain, poor perfusion, infections, and several trips back and forth to the OR. We lived at MUSC from September 2nd, 2021 - January 13th, 2022.
Clyde finally got to come home after countless surgeries.
We got to enjoy so much time at home with him. All his first holidays at home. Going on little adventures and riding on his tractor!
I thank God everyday for allowing us to bring him home and make memories.
He had his first open heart surgery scheduled for December 29th, 2022. He was in the OR for 15-hours. They tried taking him off bypass, but his heart muscle needed time to recover so he came back on ECMO. Clyde was on ECMO for 12 days and never showed any progress. January 10th, 2023, Clyde went to be with Jesus. For 499 days he brought light and so much joy to everyone who cared for him.
“Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” Matthew
