My Story
Jake was born with double outlet right ventricle, transposition of the great arteries, and pulmonary valve stenosis. Jake had 2 OHS's at MUSC in 2016 by Dr. Scott Bradley. Jake flatlined 3 times during recovery and had a tough road at first. Jake is now almost 9 years old and running strong. He continues to have annual echoes and will still require at least one more OHS in his lifetime to replace his pulmonary valve conduit. Jake loves to play baseball and annoy his older Sister. He is all boy, and we are thankful for those who have ensured he is still here with us. He is affectionately known as "Jake the Barbarian" among his friends and family. We celebrate Jake's unique condition and have taught him to embrace it fully. He gets great joy out of showing off his scars and asking others if they want to "feel his heartbeat" as it is quite unique due to his conduit. He is a blessing to our family and a joy to others.
