My Story
My story begins while my mama was pregnant. On 6-14-17, my parents found out I had a heart defect. I made my entrance on 11-1-17 being hooked up to wires to help me survive until my first surgery, the Norwood, on 11-8-17. After 29 days, I was discharged 11-30-17. That started the tedious process of preparing for the Glen surgery. That surgery happened on 7-3-18. When doctors tried to remove the vent the next day, something was wrong, leading to a right Glenn repair on 7-6-18. After 6 weeks in the hospital I was discharged on 8-14-18. My whole first year of life was doctor appointments, feeding resets, hospital visits, all to help me thrive. Which I did. During this time, I learned to scoot on the floor, walk, run and attended 4k. I was monitored by an awesome doctor, here in Spartanburg up until my Fontan on 7-3-23. Exactly 5 years from my Glenn. I recovered fast and was discharged on 7-12-23. After some different behavior, my pediatrician, discovered a plural effusion on 7-18-23, leading to a helicopter ride to MUSC for an emergency surgery on 7-19-23. My surgeon discovered a MRSA infection under my incision site, that he fixed. After 6 weeks in the hospital I was discharged on 8-12-23. I love spending my time playing outside, eating ice cream, bowling, and bossing my siblings around. I don’t know why I have a special heart, but I trust that God knows and I trust him.
