My Story
After an abnormal 20 week anatomy scan, we were referred to MUSC’s Advanced Fetal Care Center, where Grayson was diagnosed with HRHS- PA/IVS with Tricuspid atresia.
Grayson was admitted to the NICU after birth, and was transferred to the Cardiac ICU following his PDA Stent placement. Grayson spent a couple more weeks in the hospital before getting a g-tube placed, and going home a few days after that.
At 4 months old, what was supposed to be a routine heart cath turned into an emergency open heart surgery due to a severe drop in his oxygen sats caused by a clot in his PDA stent. After his open heart surgery, he remained inpatient for two weeks before being discharged.
Since coming home, Grayson is starting to meet milestones, he has gotten his G-Tube removed, and he is doing amazing.
Grayson will have another open heart surgery in a couple of years, the Fontan surgery, and we are hopeful that he will not need any more surgeries following that.
