My Story
At 24 weeks pregnant, I receieved a life altering diagnosis for my son. Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. The words echoed in my mind for months until he was born. This disease is part of a group of the most severe heart defects known as "single ventricle" defects. Essentially, he was born with only half of his heart. On December 15th, 2022, Myles was born in New Orleans 5 hours from home, and at just 4 days old, he under went his first open heart surgery. His second open heart surgery happened at 4 and a half months old. During the first year of his life, he had a total of 9 surgeries, 2 helicopter flights, countless ICU and ER stays, 36 ambulance rides and the list goes on and on. Our lives were turned upside down with this diagnosis, and my husband and I conformed to the new life that was in front of us. We spend our days doing whatever it takes to give our son the best life he can possibly have. He has taught us so much and being his mom is the greatest blessing of my entire life. I will never get over how honored I am that God chose me to be his mama!
