Photograph DescriptionWhite-tailed sea eagles (Haliaeetus albicilla) often follow fishing boats coming back to shore in Japan's northernmost island, Hokkaido, as they know that they will be able to snatch some discarded fish. I photographed this juvenile white-tailed sea eagle as it was flying by with its prey securely in its talons: in this one shot in the burst everything came together - the eagle's fully spread wings stretched across the vertical frame with no feathers clipped, while the eagle looked back at me just at the right time.
