I am a...Professional/Serious Amateur
Photograph DescriptionThis structure was built in 1962 to draw visitors to the World Fair. The design was a collaborative effort between two men with totally different ideas, one who dreamed of a giant balloon and the other a flying saucer. The collaborative result, Seattles most iconic destination, the Space Needle. I exaggerated my worms eye perspective by getting as close to the base of the structure as possible. With my 200mm lens, I zoomed to the top and waited for the elevator to be near the bottom of my frame to create some tension and interest. The symmetry and strong, forceful lines directed my line of sight straight up into the sky, creating a powerful and dramatic image of this prototypical building.
