Photograph Description
As a photographer, I’m drawn to varied subject matter but of late I’ve focused on capturing spaces, buildings and objects around New York City and its suburbs with either no or very few people in view. With the play of angles, shadow and light, these seemingly banal “empty” spaces like train stations, office parks, pedestrian passages, and quiet streets are transformed into vignettes of mystery and mood. I use a Lecia IIIF, Rolleicord V, and 1950s lenses and experiment with expired film stock like Panatomic-X.
