I took this photograph one dreary day in Eastern Greenland, when we were following the mountainous coastline and noticed a geometrically shaped iceberg that was drifting against the dark, carved rocky cliffs. That juxtaposition of highly textured surfaces and opposing colors immediately gave the image visual interest, which was further enhanced by the light snow cover at the top of the mountain, which complemented the white ice of the iceberg down below. Finally, the soft, white rolling clouds lingering two thirds of the way up the mountain provided a strong separating line and created a striking contrast with the highly textured surfaces of the mountain side and the iceberg.
