Photograph DescriptionI took this photograph of a huge black bear (Ursus americanus) in a meadow near Orr, Minnesota in the spring. Male black bears can weigh up to 500 pounds. The eye-level angle of this image together with the bear’s intense gaze create a strong connection with the animal from the same perspective as the bear. Also, the lush spring vegetation all around the bear creates a strong color contrast with its black fur, thus making the bear stand out in the frame.
