Photograph DescriptionTacoma native and international famous glass artist, Dale Chiluly, has had influence on glass art education throughout the Northwest; he has his own museum in Seattle, and has installations here in the Museum of Glass in Tacoma. The two Crystal Towers on the Seaform Pavillion bridge are stunning. At night they are lit from within, hence they need maintenance. In the back is an angled cone shaped silver building called the "Hot Shop".
This "Hot Shop", is where exhaust fumes exit, and below the public can view live glass blowing demontrations. The cone, is composed of 2,800 diamond-shaped stainless steel panels and is 100 feet in diameter at its base. I spent 3 days at this museum, fascinated by the architecture, demonstrations, and surprises in glass art.
