Photograph DescriptionInternational renowned glass artist and Tacoma native Dale Chihuly has influenced glass art education in the Pacific Northwest. He has a glass musuem at the base of the Seattle Space Needle, as well as installations in many places. Here we see a portion of a Crystal Tower, made of huge blown-glass shapes, which also light up at night on the Chihuly Bridge of Glass.
It is magnificent to sit on a bench and see the colors of the glass change with the time of day. The Bridge of Glass is open 24 hours a day, and it is free of charge to be there. The bridge where this glass scuplture is connects the street to the Museum of Glass. Inside the museum is a learning Hot Lab, with multiple furnaces and live glass blowing demonstarations for the public.
