A little about this quilt...
At the very start of the stay at home order in Illinois, Edyta Sitar announced she was going to be offering a sew along mystery quilt. Participants could download the block patterns daily from her blog for 15 days. I ordered her fabric bundle called "Super Bloom" and managed to keep up with the daily block piecing. Some days it was 4 of one block and some days it was 8. When all done, the quilt has a total of 100 six inch blocks. I used wool batting for the loft as well as the comfort of sleeping under a wool batted quilt, and quilted it in a pattern that contained large daisy or sunflower type flowers and leaves, in honor of the Super Bloom fabric. After it was quilted and bound, I added the turned edge applique in the border, machine appliqueing the stems and hand appliqueing the leaves and round flower buds. The quilt label includes the historical significance of being made during the 2020 Covid Pandemic.
