I love my rescue pet...
... mainly because Jefferson is a wild man. I found him on my way to the FIDO warehouse, happily running loose crossing the Jefferson Ave bridge over Pogue's Run. No one claimed him, so Jefferson moved in with me.

He routinely jumps up on the table, eats any food left there, licks the inside of my coffee cups, shreds mail/books that I don't keep out of reach, pulls stuff out of my bag if not kept zipped, pees in the house, barks his head off at squirrels/small creatures in the yard, guards scraps of trash from my other dogs, rips up boxes and distributes their contents (matches/incense/etc) on the floor throughout the house, and attacks/dances in the hose stream when I attempt to water yard plants.

Yet he is also always tail-wagging, routinely gets his upper lip stuck on his protruding bottom left canine tooth, defends my little dog Russell from bullying by my big dog Elwood, jumps up to greet me every night when I get home, and snuggles in every night beside me after another long day of disorderly conduct.
