Why do you love your rescue pet?
Trixie is the matriarch of the dog clan! She, like her siblings, is a former Houston street dog. I use that term loosely because she was an owned dog at one point that someone just tossed aside.

Trix wandered in front of my office on the north side of Houston in July 2013. Mind you, this was the only day I ever had my blinds open in my office and I saw her walking by. She was an underweight and it was apparent she had just had puppies recently.

She had no chip and I had no intention of keeping her and refused to name her in efforts to not get attached. So I just called her Red. The plan was to get her vaccinated and spayed on my own dime and then find a rescue for her. I did the first two but she ended up becoming a member of the already two-dog household. She is named after Trixie from Speed Racer.

She always looks concerned but is just curious as to what is going on! You will never find Trix too far away from me and I lovingly refer to her as my shadow. She is a great mentor to the foster dogs that come into the household.
