Why do you love your rescue pet?
Big Henry, weighing in at close to 95 pounds, is pure joy! Formerly called "Dutch" he was surrendered by his owner, along with his brother, to a high-kill shelter in southern Indiana. He had lived as an outside dog and was underweight, heartworm positive, and had severe fly bites on both ears. He was placed on the Euthanasia list and pulled by Redemption Rescue, then transferred to Love of Labs. Big Henry was very anxious and chewed his way out of his crate at his first foster home. He was moved to another foster with a larger area for him to decompress, along with an enclosed area for him to exercise. We saw his happy face on Facebook, and we started fostering him in July of 2021. We then officially adopted him in October. He has really settled in and loves his home! His best friend is his feline brother Mikey Meowers (last year's contest winner!) and despite the weight difference (MIkey is a mere 11 pounds), they love to nap on the couch next to each other. Although Henry is much larger than Mikey, he understands that Mikey is the boss around here! Henry is your typical Lab...very smart, loyal, somewhat stubborn, and extremely protective of his mom! Wherever she is, Big Henry is by her side, protecting her from any potential danger! (Both inside and out) We can't imagine our life without Big Henry, and he is happy to support FIDO to help dogs in his community!
