A little about me...Simon was rescued by his double-Gator mom in 2021. An orphan kitten in a big colony, tiny Simon was supposed to be a foster cat. But when his health declined, he became a patient at the UF College of Veterinary Medicine. The Gators Vet team removed a giant tumor from his inner ear, which was so big it was affecting his breathing! But he is perfectly healthy today and a proud Gator kitty. Simon is nickednamed the “Little Bat” because of his extra long canines, which are scientifically known as his “TEEF” per his vet. Simon lived in Gainesville while his mom taught classes at UF Law, and even has a bat named in his honor at the Lake Alice Bat House. Simon know resides in Tampa where he loves to interrupt his parents’ zoom calls, terrorize his two feline siblings, and constantly try to make contact with his two brain cells—which we aren’t 100% sure UF Vet didn’t accidentally remove along with his tumor. Simon loves churu treats, chasing his tail, watching the bubbles in his parents’ craft beer, and getting all the snuggles imaginable. Simon’s parents are both Gator lawyers and he is named after the Supreme Court case Matal v. Simon Tam—a case his First Amendment lawyer mom got to see argued live. Simon is perfect example of why “rescued” is the best breed, why fostering matters, and why it really is GREAT UF!
