Your Pet's Story or Bio
Emma was rescued about a year ago from a puppy mill in Iowa where she was kept in a small cage for seven years breeding puppies for profit. She was finally relinquished to a kind woman who travels the Midwest when she could no longer produce puppies profitably. Everything is new and scary to Emma. The grass under her feet, leaves falling from the tree, doors, windows, even me. It has taken a long time to gain trust but finally she will walk through an open door and approach me if I am sitting. Although advised that Emma would likely never walk on a leash, Emma loves going for walks. Since confined to a cage for most of her life, she had to start with short walks around the block and has most recently completed a two mile hike in the Black Hills. She is still extremely frightened of everything we take for granted. My greatest hope is to see her wag her tail which is something most fur kid parents see everyday. She has just started to give small tail wags every now and then which tells me she is beginning to enjoy life and love. Please adopt, don't shop. Most puppies come from puppy mills/breeders who care very little for the dogs who are producing the puppies. Most adorable little puppies come at the extreme suffering of a momma like Emma.
