About Us

Friends of Lucas County Dogs (FoLCD) was established in 2017 when a group of volunteers at Lucas County Canine Care & Control (LC4) met to discuss how they could supplement the care and enrichment of the dogs at the shelter. In early 2017 we obtained our 501(c)3 non-profit status.

FoLCD is dedicated to advocating and supporting the dogs, staff and volunteers of LC4. Lucas County Canine Care & Control provided care for thousands local dogs in 2017. Whether it’s reuniting lost dogs with their families, providing routine and emergency medical care for dogs that have been neglected or abused, or finding the perfect forever home, the staff and volunteers work tirelessly to provide love, attention, and enrichment during a dog’s stay. FoLCD works to supplement these services, as well as bring positive attention to LC4 and the dogs they assist by providing community outreach and education.

Mission Statement: Friends of Lucas County Dogs is a volunteer, 501(c)(3) organization formed to supplement the services provided by Lucas County Canine Care & Control, and to assist and support Lucas County Dogs. To accomplish this mission, we will fundraise for medical care, enrichment and basic needs as well as providing community outreach, education, and pursue grant writing opportunities.

Vision Statement: To provide every dog in Lucas County with a loving lifetime home.
