Sam rescued us 7 years ago this December. 4 years prior, we had lost our loving Lab of 12 years, Joe and as much as we wanted another dog, the pain was still too deep. My brother-in-law was looking for a dog for his family and took my husband with him to the West L.A. Shelter. It was there that my husband found Sam..or should I say Sam found him. He was the only dog not barking or jumping up on the front of the cage and they had an immediate connection. He called to tell me about this amazing dog, but, I said I was not quite ready. He did his best to convince me to come and just look at him but I said No. I knew I would feel compelled to take him out of the shelter, but, was just not ready for another dog. About a week later, he took me to the shelter, Sam (whose name was Bruno at the time) was brought out to the play yard, but, the only thing he wanted to do was pee everywhere (well he is a dog right?). I agreed he was handsome and seemed like a great dog, but, still was not ready to commit. My husband went back to the shelter with my brother-in-law and were told that he was not there anymore. They said he had been there for 6 months and no one had shown much interest in him. Thank God for Forte Animal Rescue, as unbeknownst to us, they had come to save Bruno at the last minute as he was going to be put down that day. My brother-in-law, while still looking for a dog, saw Bruno on the Forte website and immediately called and advised us that an adoption day was coming up at Centinela Feed. We went and there he was, still as calm as ever. We made sure he got along with the Jax, my brother-in -law's newly rescued dog, and after a lengthy family discussion, we all agreed this was the dog for us. We could not have made a better decision. He has brought a tremendous amount of love, happiness & companionship to my husband, our two sons and myself. The long walks he takes us on early in the morning and in the evening, meditating with us every morning, curled up sleeping against my husbands legs every night, and the untold sloppy wet kisses he has given us all, has brought us closer together and filled us with indescribable joy!
We love him and tell him each and everyday how grateful we are that he has come into our lives. We want to thank Forte Animal Rescue for saving his life and allowing us to give him his forever home. We love you Sam!
