Your pet can
help raise money for less fortunate dogs and cats by having his or her picture compete in the Four Footed Friends Inc.
31st Annual Pet Photo Calendar Contest!
As a major fundraiser, FFF sells pet calendars. The 12 pictures (one for each month of the year) are selected from pet photographs submitted by individuals. Between
now and the deadline of June 7, 2019, printed and digital photos of
all types of pets will be accepted by FFF. Our Board of Directors will select up to 50 photos based on quality and appropriateness of subject matter. These semi-finalist photos will then be
displayed at Pet Smart in Indiana on June 21, 22 and 23rd. The public will vote for its favorites by placing donations, in the form of cash or checks, into the corresponding photos' containers. The 12 photos that generate the most funds will each be given a full-page spot on the 2020 Calendar, along with the owner's name(s) and the animal's name and description. The runners-up will appear on the inside back page of the calendar.
Calendars will be available
for sale to the public in autumn 2019, and owners of the 12 winning pet photos will receive a complimentary copy.
Contest Rules & Guidelines (Entry deadline: June 7, 2019)
- Only one photo entry permitted per household.
- Professionally (photo lab) printed, color photographs only, please. Polaroid-type pictures are unacceptable.
- Please have your photo printed at a photo lab, not on a home printer. Photo paper must be used. The photo should be a minimum of 300 dpi in resolution, as the 12 winning shots will need to be enlarged for the calendar.
- Sharp, detailed photos are required. The owner's name, address, and phone number, and the pet's name, breed, and age, must appear on the back of the photo OR be provided to FFF with your email entry. Owners should retain a copy of the photo print, digital image, or negative.
- WE ACCEPT EMAILED ENTRIES; please send photos one at a time (especially if they are large files) as attachments by emailing FFFPetCalendar@gmail.com. As a general rule, photos from 1MB to 3MB in size are ideal for the calendar. Our Calendar Director will respond and help you with any technical questions. She will also request basic contact and pet information from you as listed above. Once your emailed entry is approved as being appropriate in size and content for the contest, our Calendar Director will also see to it that a professionally printed 4x6 of your photo is made and placed on display for the voting. You do not have to send anything to us by regular mail.
- Photos on display for public voting sometimes become worn or damaged. If your pet's photo is one of the 12 winners (and if you have not already submitted it to us as a .jpg or .png file) you will be asked to submit either a FRESH, photo lab reprint of the same picture (on short notice), WITHOUT writing on the back (to prevent image bleed-through), OR a high-resolution DIGITAL IMAGE in .jpg or .png format (preferred). This will help us create a calendar of the best possible quality. Please contact FFF at FFFPetCalendar@gmail.com if you have any technical questions; we'll be glad to help!
- There should be no people in the photo submitted. Picture size should be 4x6.
- Decision of the Four Footed Friends Board of Directors is final. Criteria include photos that are very sharp and crisp; please do not submit photos that are blurred, as these will not reproduce well. Photos should also be well-lit and uncluttered. Plain (solid-color as opposed to patterned), light backgrounds work best. The "focus" of the photo should be your pet!
- Donations in any amount will be permitted as part of the voting. (The top-earning photos generally bring in several hundred dollars each, so "fundraising" for your pet's photo is encouraged. FFF will provide helpful fundraising tips for you if your pet reaches the semi-final round.)
- Pets pictured on any previous FFF pet calendar ARE eligible to compete but must be shown in a "new" photo.
- Owners of winning pets will be notified by phone or letter.
