Tell Us About Your Pet
Sierra is the most loving, intelligent dog we've ever had. When we brought her home at 7 weeks, she told us, in the first few hours, she was never going to accept staying in the kennel which we used for housebreaking. She howled until we let her out, so she grew up sleeping curled up over my neck. She's never had an accident in the house - always lets us know when she needs to go outside. Being an only dog, fully bonded to us, she understands every word we say and every move we make. She loves sleeping on my feet in my office while I work. At 9:00 every morning, after her favorite breakfast, she goes to the staircase and points to the office door. She loves all people and all dogs, not too sure about cats! When we go for our daily walk, many neighbors comment how beautiful she is and of course she runs right up to be petted and loved! Such a treasure and such a comfort in these challenging times! If we're feeling down, she sits in front of us and stares into our eyes. She always wants to help. Who can resist that!

What makes your pet unique or special?
She understands every word we say and every move we make. "Are you hungry?" She runs to her bowl! "Want to go for a ride?" She runs to the garage door! "Squirrelly!" She runs to look out the window! "Go with Daddy!" She jumps off the bed to follow Daddy! "Where's your ball?" She runs around the yard to find it! I pick up her leash. She runs to the door! When I go downstairs to make dinner, she moves to a position where she can see if I put any bites in her bowl. Any time we're in the front yard, or across the street in the park, and I say, "Backyard!" she immediately runs to the gate and pushes it open and goes in to wait for me.

What is your pet’s favorite hobby?
Chasing rabbits, squirrels, birds and turkeys out of the backyard.

Why did you enter this contest?
We love supporting pets without homes. We have had 4 wonderful dogs since 1993. Sierra (English Springer Spaniel) and Autumn (Old Hemlock Setter who lived 13 years and died of cancer) came from family breeders. Dakota (lived 13 years and died of a stroke) and Sophie (English Springer Spaniels) who became paralyzed from a congenital spinal defect and died at 9 years) came from the Humane Society. They have all been the pleasures of our lives. We like to contribute to helping more dogs find the homes and love they deserve. Also, Sierra is 10 years old and has Cushing's Disease and some internal growths. We love and celebrate every remaining day she is with us. I would love to have her picture in a calendar as a priceless memory. Thank you for this opportunity.

Why did you choose to support Frankie's Friends?
Every dog deserves a loving, caring home surrounded by the love they deserve, just as they give us constant devotion and unconditional love.

Why should people vote for your pet?
Having been a teacher, I'll just say she is the most incredible dog I have ever known, and she deserves an A. I'm sure, if she could talk, she would say she wants to help other dogs get wonderful homes just like she has!
