Tell Us About Your Pet
I found Mickey Meowse through a local shelter, Happy Jack Cats. On the day that I found him,
he was removed from his cage and handed to me. He immediately snuggled into the crook of my elbow and began to purr. At that point - the love affair had begun! Mickey was constantly by my side. He grew into a great big floof! He and I loved late night snuggles, where he would begin by cleaning my face. One night as we snuggled, "we" (meaning me - lol) made a promise that we would grow old together. That promise was recently shattered when, after Mickey began rapidly losing weight, I took him to the vet. Our future was now unsure when I was informed that Mickey had renal failure. It had been only 6 months since my mom had passed (mom lived with me for 6 years, and I was her full-time care giver) so I was completely devastated to get this news. As a single woman living on a fixed income, paying for his care and special diet has become daunting, but I'm unwilling to give up on him.

What makes your pet unique or special?
Mickey is so loving and gentle. He is truly a gentle giant. When new kittens have been introduced to him, he immediately begins to play with them, and make then feel welcomed. He loves to sit quietly as my granddaughter "reads" to him (she was only 3 years old when this started). He has always been very gentle when playing with both of my grandchildren. When I am standing still, Mickey will fully extend his long body up to me, look at me with those big yellow eyes, and make me aware that I need to stop whatever I'm doing and give him a snuggle. When we welcomed an 8 week old kitten into our home, she loved to snuggle into his thick floofy fur, and sleep with him for hours.

What is your pet’s favorite hobby?
Mickey loves to sit in one of the many windows upstairs and watch the squirrels and birds that travel through the tall trees. Out of the plethora of catnip mice we have in our collection, he prefers the green and white striped mouse that he will bat around the house, and sleep with once play time is over. One of the unfortunate past times that he has is eating holes in my clothing. (Pica is not a fun thing!) I woke up one morning to find that at some point during the night, he had eaten a pretty good portion of my long-sleeved pajama top sleeve while I was sleeping.

Why did you enter this contest?
I'm hoping to bring attention to renal issues that can shorten the life of a loving pet. Our journey has just begun, and I'm hoping that with love and care, his life can be extended. Unfortunately, with my limited income, purchasing the prescribed diet foods has become daunting. I will do everything in my power to keep feeding him this specific diet to hopefully extend his life. I need this little/big floof in my life!!

Why did you choose to support Frankie's Friends?
The support I can give to Frankie's Friends will be thru bringing awareness using my social media. Any "extra" money I can dig up will need to be allocated to casting for Mickey Meowse.

Why should people vote for your pet?
I'm not sure why others should vote for him, but i know for me, he has enriched my life by simply being present. Mickey is the sweetest cat I've ever had! As a fur-mom, I know I'm not supposed to have favorites, but this little, handsome man has made my life just that much better by bringing love, joy, and snuggles into my life for the past 3 ½ years. I suffer from depression and anxiety, but whenever I'm snuggling with him, my symptoms disappear. He's one in a million!
