Dorothy, a 13 year beagle was rescued by the Fredericksburg SPCA. She was turned in to a local shelter after her breeder no longer needed her. Dorothy was sick and scared. After several vet visits and diagnostics, we found out that Dorothy had a grade 4 heart murmur along with cancerous tumors in her mammary chains. She was also showing early signs of congestive heart failure. Although she was visibly healthy, Dorothy was slowly dying. With the help of the great folks at White Oak Animal Hospital, we started Dorothy on life-saving medication to keep her comfortable. She spent 5 happy months with us. She visited local shops, parks, farms, and even came to the shelter to cuddle other dogs! In honor of Dorothys' 5 happy months, we are hoping to raise $500 to help save more animals like Dorothy. We love and miss you little bird!
