Kylie (Pilar at the shelter) was a Bahamian street dog that we adopted from Furry Friends in March. She was shy and scared when we got her. She was afraid to eat if anyone was in the room. We gave her lots of love and worked with her to overcome her fears. A week after we got Kylie she was started getting sick. We took her to our vet who helped her, but she kept getting sick. We spent thousands of dollars on tests and medicine. Finally an ultrasound showed she was born with kidney's that are smaller than those of a cat. The vet says dogs with this rare condition only live 6 months to a year. He advised us to take her home and give her the best life for as long as she had. So we showered her with love, took her to Dog Beach and her other favorite places. We cuddled and snuggled and told her how much we loved her. Last week her kidneys finally failed. She was 15 months old. A win in this contest would be a memorial to this wonderful dog. I am glad we were able to give her six months of love and a happy life.
