Pet's Story or BioIntroducing George our 17 year old hackney/halflinger cross pony who we saved from fountain hill rescue out of Pa 3years ago - George was a Amish pony who pulled wagons - he was sent to auction after auction and eventually ended up at a kill buyers facility - there he was marketed online and I found him on the fountain hill horse rescue fb page - upon inquiries , seeing videos and images I decided to take a chance on this little guy.
After quarantine he was transported to Vt and welcomed and presented as a Christmas gift to my family and grandkids.
George went through a year period of adjustment - he was a angry pony who didn’t trust humans and felt he had to defend himself to survive .
He had old wounds both physically and mentally that needed time to heal and we gave him that time - I spent every day with him , handling him with love and kindness but firm affirmation of appropriate behavior - he was allowed to be a horse - after some time and retraining George has become a wonderful , happy pony who loves to trail ride, horse camp, get scratches and brushings - he enjoys toating my grandkids around and he has bonded with his herd members , he will greet me at the pasture and likes to sniff my hair .
He will never have to worry about life or humans hurting him again
