Please give a brief story about your pet – was it a rescue, hard-luck story, special needs, etc
She was a 4 week old chick at the feed/grain store that had gradually become paralyzed and severely deformed. I said “I’ll take her!”, and spent the next 5 weeks giving her intensive physical therapy, making her special slings and chairs, feeding her super nutritious foods, etc. I have a great video of her learning to walk. She is now 4 years old, can walk, run, fly, and peck around like any other chicken. PeepPeep the Kitchen Chicken hangs out with us, sits on our laps when we’re playing games, puts up with all the hugs and kisses, pecks our legs when she wants scratches, and jumps into the guinea pig pen when she wants company. She’s the only chicken of our family of rescue animals, but she absolutely thinks she’s a human. So much personality in one little bird! PeepPeep is such a special, amazing part of the family!
