Please give a brief story about your pet – was it a rescue, hard-luck story, special needs, etc
These two sweet brothers were found as stray kittens in a parking lot in Florida. They were captured and soon after transported to Massachusetts where they ended up thankfully at the Gifford Shelter where I was lucky enough to adopt them. Their past remains a mystery but I suspect they’re semi feral due to their innate fear and lack of trust in humans. Their brotherly bond is super strong with muscular Lenny “Protector” of more fragile Louie who looks up to and copies his brother. Ironically, its big boy Lenny who runs and hides faster when I have guests while Louie more quickly comes out to investigate out of curiosity. It’s going to take more time for them to fully trust but I’m happy to say Louie no longer blanches whenever I reach out to pet him and Lenny constantly brings me gifts of fuzzy toy worms as if to say “thank you” which is so touching. It’s wonderful to see these kitties growing more relaxed and comfortable in their new life: spending days watching birds and squirrels and napping in their fav chairs on my enclosed patio; likewise fun to watch them chase or roughhouse together indoors - enjoying their tall cat tree and playhouse from which they can look down on us mere humans. I’m humbled that these two fight for a place next to my pillow at bedtime and now purr when it’s lights out! Lenny and Louie have found a home and place in my heart forever!
