I was hoping to find a Weimaraner to hike with me. I imagined a lean, sleek, fast dog that would go all day. I applied to the GLWR, and then... I met Winston. He was handsome and good-natured and the calmest Weim I'd ever met. And he was 50 pounds overweight. I'd had him for a week when he tried to run for the first time, and it was painful to watch. He was awkward, heavy and only made it a few steps. Nearly a year later he is discovering that he is FAST! He runs with glee! He hikes as long as I want to go, and he loves it so much!

This is early spring, and after a long winter he is outside and feeling the warm sun on his face and sniffing the wind like a Weim was born to do!
