Your Pet's Bio or Adoption StoryMy beautiful girl decided that our front porch was the perfect resisting place on October 12, 2015. When my kids arrived from school they saw her tired and thirsty. When the kids approached her she ran to our neighbors home. Knowing our neighbor would be unwilling to help, due to her age, my kids decided they had to help Pumpkin. They stayed with her for two (2) hours until she trusted them and followed them to our yard. We waited two days and took her to the humane society where we were advised that she had no microchip and that she was not pregnant as we thought she was or just had given birth. We decided to take her home and find her an adopter since after numerous walks we found no puppies and we were not going to keep her. We decided that before she was adopted we would spay her because we didn't want her to be bred "again". Three (3) weeks later on Halloween night and one week before her spay, when we got back from trick or treating with the kids she was acting funny and digging in the yard. We were in denial about her having puppies, no way we could handle puppies as we work full time and had no experience. We went to sleep and when we woke up Monday, November 1, 2015, we had 12 puppies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was like a military drill at 6:30 a.m. to get them moved since she gave birth in a hole under an air conditioner. The adrenaline was rushing and although we were somewhat scared we were happy, excited and in shock. On November 1, 2015, after setting them up and going to work I began to post on my Facebook page for someone to help us as we couldn't do it alone and had no clue where to begin. After,
several posts, one of my friends got a message from Shelly Trentman from Good Karma Pet Rescue, who said they would take us under their umbrella as long as we kept mommy and babies together, at least 6 weeks, which we did not hesitate and accepted. After the puppies were six weeks old they went in pairs to their new fosters as it was the crucial time for them to commence to get ready for their furever homes. Mommy stayed with us, while we got her ready for adoption or so we thought. Little did we know she had been embedding herself into our hearts one lick at a time. Knowing she was so comfortable with us and had come such a long way and having a smaller chance of being adopted because of breed we knew she had been home all along. Adopting Pumpkin was one of the best things we have done. We can not imagine our lives without her. She is part of our family one of our kids and my kids adore her. Pumpkin was also the reason we started our fostering journey through Good Karma Pet Rescue the reason why we have fostered 22 doggies. She has become an amazing foster sister to all the doggies that have come after her. It has been an incredible adventure that we would never regret and we couldn't be happier with our beautiful brindle beauty, Pumpkin.
