Your Pet's Bio or Adoption StoryOh my goodness Emiliana Maria "Emi" formerly Silver entered our life at a time when we needed (but didn't know it) to be reminded how blessed we were to have 3 square meals, a hot shower and a roof over our heads each day.
As Foster Mom extraordinaire Julia A. Landis shared, Emi seemed to have just decided to leave her home one day and ventured out onto the streets of Ft. Lauderdale.
Because she was so friendly and beautiful (clear she had been loved in a home at one time) she soon made friends in a neighborhood and cat lovers with dogs lol actually invited her into their homes at mealtimes. She fared well and thankfully someone contacted Julia who loved on her and bonded with her quickly.
Our beloved Pat DeWald Foster Mom of our Good Karma Basti sent me the link of Emi for adoption. I said, "yeah yeah" cause I had been trying to adopt the right local kitty for us and for him/her for 2 years to no avail.
I picked up my phone that nite and looked st the link again and saw this kitty on her back in the second photo. I realized this was our kitty and couldn't wait to hold her.
I was elated when we realized we were chosen for this special one. My husband chose Emmie but we decided on Emiliana Maria "Emi" as each year for our anniversary my husband and I vacation in Anna Maria Island, FL. Also an Italian girl needs to have her formal name end in an a!
We think Emi is a blend of Norwegian Forest Cat and Maine Coon. She may be a rescue mix but she is pure love! The best animals are adopted not shopped!
We comment often how she has the most perfect eye makeup which no one could recreate. Her emerald green eyes change from amber to gold back to green in the early morning and dawn light. She is our very first terra cotta nose cat.
When she first came to us her back had a black thick line on her grayish fur. It reminded us of a stripe on the road and her wanderings. Since then that stripe is less visible and she has a spattering of creamy taupe, gray and white fur which amazes me how beautiful this creature continues to become.
Emi loves to play with the other fur babies and sleeps next to me and our dog Isabella Lucia every night. She is so quiet and has such a thin frame U have to par the bed to see where she is sleeping. Her air biscuits would impress the best kitty bakers.
Emi will not drink water out of a bowl. She waits for us to turn on the faucet then jumps up to drink. We are still working on this but her quirkiness makes us happy!
Her fav spot is the leather chair in my office or the cat walk on the lanai. She spends hours watching the butterflies in our garden and ducks when birds fly overhead even though there is a roof overhead and she is screened in.
Emi is an indoor only cat now. She loves it and we love her. She is a constant in our life. I love when her foster Mom Julia replies to my Emi photo texts, "Thanks. I needed an Emi fix." I laugh and think we all need an Emi fix now and then. We are just the blessed ones to be able to have an Emi fix everyday and forever. Thank you Good Karma!
