Rain was a rescue who'd been found loose on the interstate. Because she was very young (eighteen months) and pregnant, we suspect she escaped from a puppy mill. We learned later (because of boarding) that she was a champion climber and escapee, although within hours of coming to us she was happy and never wanted to be where she couldn't see us.

We'd had a gut-wrenching drought in The Woodlands that had killed half our trees, but on the way home after claiming her, it rained so hard I had to pull over and wait. That's how she got her name.
