Share a brief bio on your pet! For example: What is their adoption story? What makes them special? How have they impacted your life?We first met Shadow at an offsite adoption event for Great Plains. Paul was sitting at a table when another volunteer brought her in. She immediately came up to him and put her front paws on his leg looking for some attention. She got some attention and made a big impression that day. We weren’t looking to add a second dog, but we couldn’t forget her and a few days later we brought her home. Shadow had a rough start in life. She came to Great Plains from a hording situation in an old trailer with around 30 other dogs. Someone came by a couple of times a week and tossed food out for the dogs. In spite of that start, she has the softest, sweetest disposition. She’s never shown aggression over food or toys or anything else with people or other dogs. It takes a while for her to warm up to new people, unless they are sitting on our couch which has always been a safe zone for her. It’s often said that rescue dogs really appreciate their new homes. She truly knows that she’s got it good in her new home often standing on guard at the front window or keeping an eye on the backyard from her patio bed as
