Adoption or Rescue Story
I had two boy cats that I had had for a long time and they passed away fairly close together. I waited a while because I wasn't ready to get another kitty yet. Finally, one day, it just struck me and I went to the Humane Society ( it wasn't Great River Rescue back then). I was allowed to go in and visit with the cats. I asked the volunteer (who turned out to be Engress, who I've done some volunteer work with since then) and she asked me if I had seen the cat in the back yet. I said "No" and she took me back to see her. Penny was standing on the window sill, but when I came in, she turned around and started meowing at me. She let me pick her up and snuggle right away. I took her home and we've been buddies ever since.
