Great River Rescue is a companion animal shelter located in Bemidji, Minnesota. We save, care for, and find homes for stray, surrendered and unwanted dogs and cats. Our goals include providing safe refuge for pets, educating the public about responsible pet care, and reducing pet overpopulation. Great River Rescue is proud to be a "no-kill" animal shelter. We do not euthanize pets just to make room for other pets. We are committed to getting companion pets all the way home.
Since inception in 1977, Great River Rescue has helped over 10,000 animals with a second chance at life. We are very proud of these and other efforts which have made our dream a reality and now allows us to provide even greater quality service for more than 350 animals per year.
Mission Statement
Great River Rescue is committed to serving the best interest of the animals we strive to protect.
Vision Statement
Great River Rescue is dedicated to operating an animal shelter for the purpose of finding a quality forever home for each animal we serve, encouraging a community of responsible companion animal guardians, eliminating the community's need to euthanize dogs and cats as a means of population control, and promoting a society where companion animals become more valued.
